Managing Partner & Co-founder
Debbie can mainly be found behind a computer. She manages the office responsibilities and at the races you will find her processing registrations and results. Her knowledge of the timing business began as a volunteer at local running races and eventually expanded to learning to time races. Sports timing has now become her primary career after 30 years in the real estate and title business. On a personal level, Debbie enjoys spending as much time as possible with her kids and grand kids. Once in a while, you will see her participating in a race. She also enjoys active/outdoor vacations where she can hike, kayak, snowshoe, cross country ski or even take a swamp walk.
Managing Partner & Co-founder
Tony’s primary responsibilities at Newton Timing includes timing, equipment management, programming, and website development. You will usually see him at the finish line during events. Tony is a U.S. Navy veteran having served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk as an aviation electronics technician. He is a General Motors retiree where he spent time as a technical trainer in an electronic circuit board manufacturing department. He enjoys cycling, running, winter activities, and mountaineering. He has successfully climbed Mount Rainier, Denali (20,320′) in Alaska, and Aconcagua (22,842′) in Argentina. Tony has completed the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race, the Iditarod Trail Invitational 350 mile bike race, and most recently an 800 mile Jet Ski trip along the Canadian inside Pasage.
Senior Timing Staff, Race Inflatables, Social Media Coordinator
Amber is a chameleon in the business. She adapts to whichever position is needed at the time, whether it is registration, data input, communications, timing, or equipment management. In 1995, she began working as a timer at the young age of 11 and is becoming more familiar with being a lead on the team. Amber enjoys traveling, visiting her family and friends, spending time with her husband and son, and many outdoor activities. She successfully completed the M-22 Challenge in 2012 and is looking forward to her next big adventure.
Chris is new to the racing industry as of 2016. He has a high interest in the technological aspect of timing and is constantly researching the latest and greatest in updates. He is looking forward to growing the business and becoming infused in the racing community. Chris is a car enthusiast and has high hopes of visiting Japan one day.
Timing Staff, Equipment Management, Race Inflatables
Shaun started timing races at the age of 14 and continued timing as a contractor while attending the University of Michigan, assisting in races such as the Chicago Marathon and the Kentucky Derby Marathon. He graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering in 2005 while also earning 3 varsity letters in wrestling. After graduation Shaun & Hallie moved to Seattle where he works for Boeing as Lead Flight Test Engineer and is a wrestling coach at Woodinville High School. Shaun enjoys traveling all over the world for work, time with his wife and three children, hiking, wrestling, and coaching, but is ready to enjoy the social atmosphere of timing races again.
Timing Staff, Race Inflatables
Hallie’s first experience with race timing was at the age of 17, and involved pulling tags from sweaty runners as they crossed the finish line. Luckily, technology has greatly improved since then and she now handles online registration, social media, ChronoTrack Live photography and video, as well as some race timing. Hallie especially loves how running events bring communities together. Hallie has a degree in French and marketing and worked in technology sales and real estate before starting a family. She was also a competitive cheerleading coach. She now spends much of her time with her three children. Hallie enjoys cooking for her family, sewing and crafts, and traveling as much as she can. Her guilty pleasure is reading young adult novels.
Senior Timing Staff
Deanna joined Newton Timing & Race Services in 2010. Her primary job is working as a Patient Navigator in a cancer center in Clarkston, Michigan. In her spare time she loves to run, bike, walk her dogs, resale shop, and watch movies. In 2012 Deanna started a race event management company, High Five Races.
Vaughn retired from The Flint Journal after 27 years as a sales and marketing professional and is currently a Burton, Michigan City Councilman. A 30 year Crim runner preparing for his 31st Crim, Vaughn also enjoys cycling and promoting running in the community as the Co-race Director for the City of Burton Memorial Day 5k Run & Walk.
Bill has been involved in the Flint, Michigan area running scene as a participant in races, an employee at Bauman’s Running & Walking Shop and as a sports writer at The Flint Journal. One of his main duties at The Journal was providing lead coverage of the Crim Festival of Races from 1991-2011. No longer covering the Crim has allowed Bill to actually run the 10-mile race. His favorite annual races are the Crim and the Bayshore Marathon. He has also run the Boston Marathon twice. Bill has dabbled in triathlons since 2013. He is a 1981 graduate of Linden High School where he ran cross country and track as a senior and was a goaltender on the hockey team his final two years.
Staci is enjoying her first season learning about what is involved in working with the timing staff. She has volunteered as her son’s cross country meets and at road races and is excited to now be involved in the timing of races. She is an avid distance runner that loves the running community and the excitement of race day. Her favorite races are the Crim 10-Miler and the Detroit Marathon. The thing she loves the most about running is the amazing people she has met. During the week she works as a Communications Manager for a non-profit.
